Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center—2019 Annual Report

by Sara Ernst

About this book

This illustrated annual report presents the U.S. Geological Survey’s coastal and marine research at Woods Hole during 2019. It brings together the center’s work on changing shorelines, sediment movement, marine geology, wetlands and the scientific information needed to understand coastal environments.

Sections describe coastal and shelf geology, sediment transport, energy and geohazards, environmental geoscience, seafloor mapping and information science. Project highlights range from aerial imaging and coastal-change models to gas hydrates, marine hazards, wetland processes and the management and preservation of research data. Photographs show field methods, instruments and the environments being studied, while the closing pages list the year’s publications and data products. First published in August 2020, this is the complete original report for 2019, with all pages and illustration credits retained.
