Grace Garrett Durand sets out her understanding of spirit communication following the death of her sister. Written in the setting of the early twentieth-century discussion around Oliver Lodge and other advocates of spiritualism, this short book combines Durand’s personal account with examples and quotations she gathered in support of her position.
Seven chapters discuss psychic phenomena, prominent spiritualists, religious responses and Durand’s accounts of conversations with historical figures. She also describes her own change of outlook and distinguishes the practices she accepted from those she rejected. A closing poem completes the volume, whose title page is dated 1917 and whose copyright notice is dated 1918.
