Claude Bragdon introduces higher-dimensional space through drawings, analogies and short explanations intended for readers without advanced mathematics. Lines, planes and solids provide the starting point for imagining a further dimension, with illustrated examples showing how objects might appear when encountered from a more limited space.
Bragdon connects these geometrical exercises to his wider interest in consciousness and theosophy. The later discussion of “Man the Square” develops an allegory about the relation between visible forms and a larger existence. Originally published by the Manas Press in 1913, the book preserves its diagrammatic presentation, which forms an essential part of the explanation.
