Bartosz Wiland investigates how syntactic structures become realized as words and morphemes. Working within Nanosyntax, he develops the spell-out procedure through problems involving the relationship between lexical entries and the structures they express.
The analysis focuses on Slavic verb-stem alternations and declarative complementizers, drawing especially on Czech and Polish. Backtracking, subextraction, pointers and the size of lexicalized structures connect the formal mechanism with empirical patterns. The complete 2019 monograph includes all chapters, references and indexes.
