The Mehweb Language: Essays on Phonology, Morphology and Syntax

by Michael Daniel, Nina Dobrushina and Dmitry Ganenkov (editors)

About this book

This collection provides a coordinated description of Mehweb, a Dargwa language of the Caucasus. Its chapters move from the language and its speakers to sound structure, nominal and verbal morphology, moods, case and agreement, and the forms used to connect clauses.

Different contributors examine specialized and general converbs, causative constructions and other parts of the grammatical system, using examples that allow the analyses to be compared across chapters. The volume serves readers interested in Caucasian languages, grammatical description and linguistic typology.

The complete 2019 publisher edition retains its English and Russian prefatory material, every chapter, linguistic example, table and reference section.
