Cornelius Smith recounts his early life in a travelling family, his work and family experiences, and his later religious conversion. The narrative follows a change from a precarious way of life to Christian mission work.
Accounts of relatives, bereavement and public meetings accompany the story of his ministry. The complete 1890 memoir preserves the author’s own recollections and its final reflections on the work he hoped to continue.
