This study investigates sediment deposited behind Arrow Canyon Dam in southeastern Nevada. It was undertaken in response to concerns about the burial of culturally important sites and combines measurements of sediment thickness with techniques for estimating how deposition has changed through time.
Sediment cores were analysed using lead-210 and cesium-137, while aerial-survey data and field observations helped define the area and volume of accumulated material. The report explains how the different lines of evidence contribute to estimates of deposition rates and total impounded sediment.
Readers will find a concise applied investigation linking river processes, a historic dam, and preservation concerns in Moapa Valley. The complete report includes the setting, methods, results, maps, tables, and references. It documents the assumptions behind its calculations and provides a useful example of combining radiometric evidence with topographic information.
