Prince of Peril

by Otis Adelbert Kline

About this book

Otis Adelbert Kline’s planetary adventure follows Borgen Takkor, a Martian who has lived on Earth, into the dangerous societies and landscapes of Venus. The framing account of Dr. Morgan’s extraordinary investigations leads into a story of exchanged identities, captivity, escape and contests for power on another world.

The central adventure follows Zinlo and Princess Loralie through hostile territories, strange creatures and rival ambitions. Their efforts to survive depend on physical courage and shifting alliances, while the customs and conflicts of the unfamiliar world repeatedly change the dangers they face. The story combines swordplay and pursuit with the discoveries of planetary romance.

Originally published in 1930, the novel belongs to Kline’s connected sequence of interplanetary adventures. This complete Gutenberg EPUB preserves the later Ace edition, including its foreword, Roy Krenkel’s cover and title-page illustration, and the source publishing material. The work’s original publication date is distinguished from that edition’s 1962 copyright notice.
