Éliphas Lévi presents occult philosophy through fables, myths and symbolic narratives in this French-language volume. He treats inherited stories as vehicles for ideas about nature, religion, human conduct and the hidden relationships that he sees linking spiritual and material life.
The fables are followed by explanations that connect their images with Lévi’s account of universal magnetism and the Great Work. Later sections develop major symbols and prophetic themes, including Prometheus, the Sphinx and the temple of the future. This complete 1862 volume retains the original text, explanatory sequence, contents and errata.
