Julia E. Garrett describes her experiences as a practising medium and explains the methods she associated with performances of spiritualist phenomena. Written after she left that occupation, this short work combines her personal account with descriptions of particular séance practices.
Garrett discusses rapping, trance performances, trumpet talking, table turning, spirit pictures, slate writing and materialisation. Her explanations follow the arrangement of the original pamphlet rather than a later retelling.
