W. J. Crawford offers practical observations for people investigating séances and mediumship. Drawing on his own sittings, he describes the conditions, participants and interpretations that he considered relevant to the phenomena he reported.
The book moves between advice about organising investigations and explanations involving mediums, sitters and purported operators. Discussions of physical effects, mental phenomena, objections and the need for systematic research convey the author’s approach to spiritualist inquiry. This complete 1918 volume preserves the original pages through the conclusion, in a scan of the matching American edition.
