Sarah Stanley Grimké develops a sequence of lessons on thought, symbolism and spiritual understanding. Originally prepared for correspondence with a small group of readers, the lessons were published in 1886 without alteration, according to the preface. Their language moves between philosophical argument, physical imagery and the vocabulary of mental healing.
A staff and its two ends introduce relations among unity, opposition, equilibrium and motion. Later lessons use reflection, refraction, food, fire, images and law as connected symbols through which the author explores the relationship between mind and manifestation.
The concluding material returns to concentration, will and the meaning of reality, followed by questions that guide readers back through the sequence of lessons. The book offers a compact account of Grimké's metaphysical teaching and its relationship to the nineteenth-century mind-cure movement. Original diagrams and the complete question-based appendix remain in the historical PDF.
