This report develops regional methods for estimating floods at urban stream locations without a streamgage record. Its geographic scope includes Tennessee and parts of five neighbouring southeastern states, using observations through the 2022 water year.
The analysis connects flood-frequency information with drainage-basin characteristics and the effects of developed land. It explains the selection of streamgages, statistical procedures, and the role of basin properties in the resulting equations.
Readers will find an applied hydrologic reference with methods, tables, maps, and supporting discussion. The publication documents the range of conditions represented by the study and the uncertainty of its estimates, providing context for using regional equations at ungaged sites. Its complete explanatory text and references accompany the results, distinguishing the scope of these urban-stream methods from methods developed for rural basins.
