Claude Bragdon recounts his encounters with the theosophist C. Jinarajadasa and the ideas that renewed his interest in Theosophy. Beginning with lectures and private conversations, he describes his questioning of the movement’s history and his response to claims about karma, spiritual knowledge and the continuity of life.
The narrative develops through accounts presented as glimpses of earlier lives and an otherwise unrecorded human past. Bragdon places these episodes within his own intellectual and spiritual search, explaining why he found them significant. This is the enlarged second edition published by the Manas Press in 1910, retaining its original text and concluding material about the Theosophical Society.
