This NIST report documents the production and certification of Standard Reference Material 1641f, mercury in water. It explains how the material was prepared and characterized for use in calibrating instruments and analytical methods that determine mercury in natural waters.
The report follows the analytical measurements through their statistical evaluation and uncertainty calculations. Direct-combustion atomic absorption and isotope-dilution mass-spectrometric methods contribute to the characterization, with supporting tables and computations showing how the certified values were established. The complete November 2024 publication retains the original methods, figures, references and list of symbols.
